| The authors describe 16 seaweeds not previously collected from the French coasts of the Channel: the Chlorophyceae <i>Halochlorococcum marinum, Pringsheimiella scutata, Stromatella monostromatica, S. papillosa, Ulvella setchellii</i>, the Phaeophyceae <i>Chilionema reptans, Myrionema corunnae</i>, the Rhodophyceae <i>Acrochaetium nemalionis, Chromastrum secundatum f. virgulatum, Erythrocladia grisea, E. irregularis</i> f. <i>irregularis</i> and f. <i>subintegra, E. violacea, Erythrotrichia boryana, Fosliella faranosa, Pneophyllum rosanoffii</i>. Ecological data are added to the morphological and anatomical descriptions. |

| La presente información de temperatura, salinidad y oxígeno disuelto de superficie y fondo de las aguas de la Bahía de Salinas, del mes de abril de los años 1985, 1986 y enero y abril de 1987, realizando la composición entre la distribución horizontal de tales parámetros, así como la cantidad de lluvia en el mes de abril de los citados años. Se establecen condiciones similares y normales en los dos primeros años y cierta intrusión de aguas cálidas y de salinidad algo más baja y menor concentración de oxígeno disuelto en 1987, variaciones que serían compatibles con la presencia de un evento El Niño de intensidad moderada. |

| Agelaius r. ruficapillus is gregarious, being found in large flocks in Rio Grande do Sul during most of the year; they nest in natural marshes or rice fields. This bird is accused by farmers of causing damage to rice at all stages of its growth and Belton, 1985, believes it may now be the most abundant bird in the state. Its reproductive biology in rice fields in southern Rio Grande do Sul was observed from 1981 to 1983, with more emphasis from november 1982 to march 1983. Capture and banding of 16 birds with aluminum and plastic colored bands were made; nine nests were marked with steel stakes. | This paper examines the possible use of information on the relative marginal costs of point and nonpoint source water pollution abatement to assess the efficiency implications of shifting a greater portion of the burden for water quality protection to nonpoint sources. The inherent uncertainty about the effects of changes in resource allocation for nonpoint pollution abatement on nonpoint pollution loads is recognized in the analysis. This uncertainty is shown to result in significant limitations on the use of marginal cost comparisons even when point and nonpoint pollutants are perfect substitutes. |

The conclusion is reached that there is no fundamental distinction between technical and allocative efficiency. | This paper simulates alternative distributions of general purpose state aid to local governments under different combinations of criteria: tax capacity, effort, and revenue needs. Revenue needs are based on Tobit estimates of the costs of providing average levels of 16 categories of services. Segmenting the sample into high and low population jurisdictions provided a more realistic set of cost estimates. Available revenues or capacity are determined by multiplying each jurisdiction's tax bases by standard tax rates. | Based on data from 92 Minnesota cities, the analyses shows that neither marginal price or average price appear as the better predictor of demand. The price elasticity of demand ranges from -. 17 for marginal price in the linear model to -.27 for average price in the log linear model. It appears from the analysis that many consumers are unaware of the marginal price of their water. Thus utilities should simplify their pricing structures and present consumers with an easy to understand costs of water such as the cost of six hours of lawn watering. |
